SongFest thanks the fabulous 500
SongFest 2017 has been and gone and what a fabulous weekend of songs and friendship it was!
Long established and newly formed choirs, mature and young voices, all performed outstandingly.
We were transported on a wave of songs travelling from Georgia to Burundi, from Japan to Europe before ultimately coming back to these shores with more different sounds.
30 choirs and some 530 performers presented us with some real treats, songs which went straight to the heart and made us thoughtful, songs which made us smile and others laugh outright.
Mr SongFest says “Our venues were awash with endorphins and serotonins, no one could escape their potency”. Singing releases neurochemical rewards for working up the courage to sing. That rush, or “singer’s high,” comes in part through a surge of endorphins, which at the same time alleviate pain. Music also releases serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with feelings of euphoria and contentment…..sound familiar?
SongFest would like to thank you all for coming and presenting both well-loved and lesser known genres and hope that you had as much fun performing as the audience did listening.
Lastly and most importantly, a big Thank You goes to all the Volunteers.
Volunteers make this festival of songs happen!
Thank you to all the SongFest volunteers who organised the weekend so as to ensure that all Artists could showcase their performances with the right sound and lighting, as comfortably as possible and in good venues, despite the unseasonable searing heat.
Thank you to the “3 Tarts Café’s” and the Tennis Club Bars who kept everybody fed and watered in 2 venues for long hours, enabling everybody to refuel at any time during the weekend.
SongFest is indebted to all of you.
